Oscar you are 7 months old

I know I say it every month little man, but boy are you growing quickly. 7 months is just ridiculous. I mean seriously, the way things are going, it's going to feel like only five minutes have passed before it's your first birthday!

Last time I wrote, you had just started rolling. You had only managed to do a few and still found it a bit of a struggle? But now? You are well and truly a roller! You roll everywhere – all over your playmat, off of your playmat, on the sofas, on the beds, on Zach's floor, on the changing unit, in your cot…EVERYWHERE! You not only roll but you turn yourself around and you even sometimes manage to drag yourself over to something you want with such determination, it's shocking. We were at soft play with Zach and you wanted to play with the toy that he was playing with. You used your elbows to shuffle yourself forward and within moments, you were over there. Nowhere is safe now! Which is why…

We bought you a walker!

Baby In Walker

Your brother never had one because when he was a baby, we lived in a very small flat and there really was no space for one. Since we have more space now, we decided that it was a good idea to get you one and so I picked up a second hand one because seriously, you won't be in it for long so it would have been a massive waste of money to spend over double the amount I paid for something that has only been used a handful of times by the previous owner!

It seems we were right to buy one as you absolutely love it. You jump up and down in it like you do in your jumperoo, only you move around in this and the look on your face when you first found yourself in a slightly different spot, was priceless! Your favourite thing is when you are in your walker and Zach is riding up and down the front room on his bike – as he zooms past you, your face lights up!

This month has seen your first trip to the park. Yep, the weather has been lovely at times and Zach has been wanting to spend more time at the park. We discovered a new one and the two of you went on the giant net swing together – you looked like you were about to fall asleep as I pushed you back and forth. Then, you went on the normal swing all by yourself and you loved it!

Brothers At The ParkBaby In Swing

You have also discovered grass this month which you really enjoyed trying to eat!

Baby On Grass

We have been out and about quite a lot really. First up was your second trip to the theatre when we went to see Ben & Holly Live. You were utterly mesmorised and was such a good boy througout the whole show! Second, we went to Paradise Wildlife Park for my Mother's Day out and you loved it. You particularly liked it when Daddy strapped you into the carrier and was forward facing for the first time so you got to see everything properly! You were less keen on him having access to nom noms though!

Baby And Dad Carrier

Weaning has begun and whilst it has been a slow process, you are starting to get the hang of it now. You have tried a mixture of baby led and purees and your favourite things seem to be brocolli and fruit. And you love making a mess!

Weaning Baby

The past couple of days have been a bit slower because you decided to get yourself a bit constipated and didn't poo for six days! I ended up having to get a pouch of prune puree to try and help it through and it worked a treat. I have never been so happy to see poo and you have never looked so relieved!

You have actually been sleeping in your cot! Not all of the time and actually, as I write this, I am having a nightmare night. You are so snotty though, whether you have caught my cold or it's teething again, I don't know, and I feel bad for feeling mad at you for waking up every ruddy 15 minutes but it is so draining when only boob will get you back to sleep. But, the main thing is, you are accepting of being in your cot some of the time! Night is still co-sleeping focused. We do try to get you into your cot but you just prefer being next to me and for now that is ok. Small progress is better than no progress right?!

You are still absolutely loving Baby Sensory. It is the highlight of your week and you spend the whole session utterly mesmorised by everything going on. You adore it when the leader turns out the big lights and puts the twinkly lights on and you especially love ribbons!

Baby Sensory Ribbons

You have been upgraded in the bath to a proper sitting up bath seat! Your lay down one was wonderful right up until you really learnt to roll and sit up and almost flung yourself out of it trying to splash the water with your hands!

And finally, you are extremely vocal and love a good screeching session! We know you are happy and excited when there's a lot of noise coming out of your mouth!

And that my love, is month seven! I wonder what the next month will bring!

Such a lot of exciting things! I loved hearing that you've been to the theatre, as a theatre oriented family I love hearing about little getting to visit, and I think it makes for easier trips in the future xx

This means that it's only a few days until I'll be writing L's 7 month update! How can that be already? Yay to weaning. It was also a very slow process for us but I think we're finally getting the hang of it! And well done Oscar for sleeping in your cot ox

He is such a cutie. It sounds like he is doing amazingly well. I love that photo of him in the swing with his big brother. And I took Little Miss H to Baby Sensory and she loved it. But I haven't signed Little Mister H  up to anything like that yet. I really need to look into it. Hugs Lucy xxxx

Such a lovely time. It's good that he is staying in his cot some of the time – like you say it's a good start and you can gradually build up from where you are now. #twinklytuesday

Time just goes by faster as they start growing and learning how to do new things. Everyday there is something different they do and it is so amazing. I have to look back on photos from a few months back to remember what it used to be like and what my baby used to look like because it changes so fast. Hope he gets over his cold and sleeps a little longer. #TwinklyTuesday
