A look back at 2016

2016 has been a memorable year for us. It's the year that we grew as a family, going from a three piece to a four piece. It's the year that we made our littlest boy a big brother and the year that we discovered that you really can love two small people equally.

January made for an exciting start to the year when we discovered we were expecting. Taking that pregnancy test at 6am because I was desperate for a wee is still there in mind. I think we both knew we were pregnant, it just needed to be confirmed. I didn't even bother with a line test, I went straight in for a clearblue to tell us how many weeks we were. We told our family over the following day and that started our journey of baby number two!

February was when I discovered just how hard it is to be a single parent when the other half abandoned me for a week in Texas 'working'. I was in awe of all single parents. It was also the month that I discovered that a threenager is a real thing. After two pretty easy parenting years we were thrown into our testing times…which are still ongoing and he's now 4!!

March brought us the month that we could finally tell Zach and the world that we were pregnant. We had our 12 week scan and everything was tickety boo and I was so excited that the secret would finally be out!

April brought us our 20 week scan and the discovery of whether we were having a boy or a girl! It also brought our holiday to Cornwall with John Fowler Holidays. It was such a lovely break away and our last holiday as a family of three!

May saw me shortlisted in the mumandworking awards for working parent blogger of the year. I didn't get to the finals but it felt awesome to even be nominated! The other half also started a new job in this month and it made such a difference to our hectic lives!

June saw me team up with Asda Little Angels when I was treated to a gorgeous pamper at The Dorchester Hotel! It also saw this little blog turn two!!

July featured a trip to the theatre to see The Gruffalo and The Scarecrows Wedding. We also snuck in a date night to Jamie Oliver’s Barbecoa restaurant in St Paul's!

August saw the end of my wonderful mum looking after Zach three times a week and the beginning of my maternity leave. It also saw the other half and I treat ourselves to a gorgeous pamper day!

September was the biggest month for us! It saw me completely freak out about having a natural birth and then successfully manage to deliver my beautiful vbac baby! It also saw Zach turn four!

October saw me meet the harsh realities of life with two children! It also saw me turning 34

November was a tough month as our little Oscar was taken to hospital when he developed bronchiolitis. It was the start of a long long cough of which he still has! It also saw me looking around at schools for Zach which is really quite scary!

December has seen me feeling that mum guilt with so much focus on Oscar being poorly but also featuring a fun trip to see The Cat In The Hat at the theatre. It has also seen us enjoy out first Christmas as a family of four which has been just wonderful. So wonderful that I haven't even had a chance to write about it.

And there we are. 2016 has been a busy year and a wonderful year. I can't wait to see what 2017 brings. I'll be watching my Oscar grow into a toddler and my Zach start school!

So from me and my boys…a happy new year to you all.
