Oscar you are 11 months old

Baby boy, you are only one month away from your first birthday. I just don't understand where the time has gone. You are growing faster than Zach ever did. I know it is because I am busy with the two of you – my days go quicker and the weeks fly by, but I just can't believe that this is the last month that you are going to be 0.

At eleven months old, your gorgeous personality is now shining through and boy, are we in for trouble! You are an absolute delight – a happy chappy who is more than happy to sit on the floor and play with whetever it is you have discovered. But if we take something away from you, or you don't get your own way – oh…my…goodness, we know we have done wrong! You have a right old temper on you! You just love to throw yourself back in dismay – even if it means you are going to bash your head on the floor in the process. I have to be on lightening speed to try and catch you in time!

You are so determined. For someone so small, nothing phases you. Soft play? Pah, it's easy. Trying to climb slides and escape the baby area! At home you love climbing over things too – whether it's our legs, the huge truck or up onto the arm of the sofa and from there, up onto the changing unit! Zach was never a climber, but I have to keep all eyes on you my boy!

On your ten month update, I mentioned that you had started trying to use your walker but that you were still a bit wobbly and it went faster than you could keep up. Well, just a month later you have mastered it and you are oh so proud of yourself when you walk all the way from one end of the room to the other. You are now confidently cruising around the furniture and one of your favourite things is to push the small plastic table and chairs around the place! You just don't stop moving and are no longer happy to be held any more. We have had to put a gate on the stairs and one on the kitchen because you love trying to climb the stairs and you also love emptying stuff out of the bins! Even though you get totally frustrated when the gates are closed, they really are for your own safety. Although when you spot one open, I have never seen you move so fast!

You love nothing more than being outside. You are such an outdoors boy and will happily sit for ages picking up grass, playing with mud, splashing in water! And when we try and take you back indoors, you once again get the hump! You love getting messy and I know that messy play is going to be something that you love.

Teething seems to have finally come to a halt for now. You have 8 beautiful teeth now and hopefully we have a bit of a break before any others come through! This also means that your sleep has improved. Over the last week, the evenings have seen a huge improvement and I am actually getting work done! You are still a tinker when it comes to our bedtime though and still mostly get in with us when we come up because you just refuse to fall back to sleep in your cot! I do try but after the third time at trying to put you down, I just give up!

You are such a mummy's boy, it's unreal. I guess because we are still breastfeeding, you are bound to be attached to me but you can have the biggest meltdown if you are taken away from me! It's not all the time, you'll happily play in the front room, in the garden or up in Zach's room for ages with someone else, but if you are tired, a little bit hungry, or just in a bad mood, all hell breaks lose. Nobody can settle you when you get like that, it is mummy and mummy only!

You are still extremely vocal and are constantly saying ga-ga, ba-ba, da-da and yeah! You are also understanding certain things and when we ask for kises, you generally give us one (unless you are tired!). You also give cuddles now and if I say 'mummy cuds', you lean your head into my neck and say ahhhhhh. It is heart meltingly cute!

You are doing really well with eating again now. You had a couple of weeks where you went off it a bit as you had a cold but now you are happily having a good old munch. You are still on purees, your gag reflex is something else, but we are slowly introducing little nibble bits and I need to be brave and get you onto proper food! Breakfast can be realy hit and miss with you but for the rest of the day, we are getting plenty of food down you! You love yogurt…it is the only food that makes you cry when it's finished!

You love playing. It sounds silly because you are a baby and all babies love playing right? But you really do. Because there are so many toys in the house, you are playing with things that are way beyond your age and yet you just know how to play with them because you watch Zach. He has a car garage and within a couple of attempts, you were successfully pushing cars down the ramp! And his Thomas Take and Play sets are a win with you, pushing the trains around the track! And we just got the rocking giraffe down from the loft which excites you whenever we put you on it!

I think I have covered everything this month. You are just the most delightful little boy and we all just adore you. I can't believe that the next time I will be publishing an update, it will be on your first birthday. Unbelievable!

He is just so adorable! I can't believe the time has gone by so quickly either! I used to hate it when people would tell me to cherish the moments because they go by so fast. Now I am at the other end and I see why they said it! It is so great that you have taken so many sweet pictures!

Thanks Helen – I totally know what you mean. Sometimes it's hard to cherish moments on those hard days but you have to try! He has grown up so much quicker than Zach did. I can't believe he is 1 in a couple of weeks! xx

What a cute little man! So you have a climber? I had a climber….OMG what a challenge. He is now a 15 year old, 6 foot 2 rugby player and will still climb a tree given half a chance! I love these posts that show how children are growing and changing. What a lovely thing to look back on in the future. #TwinklyTuesday

Only one month to go. That will go by so quickly.

I must admit my 18-month-old was very much a climber. She couldn't walk but boy could she get to places. 🙂

So adorable! The first year really does fly by too fast! My little man used to do the thing where he flung his head back on the ground when he was upset. It was terrifying to watch, especially if his head was about to hit hard concrete! Thankfully he's outgrown it now. We're in the hitting and kicking when he's displeased stage right now.

Anyway, such a lovely post and a lovely way to watch your little man grow month by month.
