We had no plans this weekend. Well, I planned to do some bits around the house – sorting the boys clothes out (there are so many that don’t fit anymore), tidying and hoovering underneath and behind the sofas. You know, the boring stuff. None of that got done though. Ah well.
Instead, we were busy entertaining the boys.
Now, I do appreciate that the majority of our weekends feature walks in the two country parks, but it never gets boring going to them and so they have to be documented! This weekend was no different and on Saturday we decided to head over to Country park number one. I had given the other half a lie in and watched the boys play (I couldn’t muster up the energy that early to join in!) and then he quickly took them over to the shops to get lunch and dinner stuff whilst I got showered and ready in peace!
We then headed to the park.
It’s been really handy recently because the trains haven’t been running on Saturdays and so we can get straight across the railway tracks without having to get the crossing keeper to open the gates for us.
So off we went for a nice walk – it was a bit drizzly on and off and Zach was a bit moany because he was tired from waking up so early, but we managed to have a nice stretch of our legs and the crucial thing was that Oscar fell asleep and had a good nap (in fact, he ended up sleeping for 3 hours!).
Once we were home from the park, we popped the sleeping Oscar in the front room and Zach and I headed upstairs whilst the other half made lunch. Zach had requested to watch Stick Man and when I grabbed it, I grabbed a couple more DVD’s too and we cosied up under the duvet and watched some of them together.
When the other half came up with the iPad on, of course, Zach decided he wanted that – so the three of us were sat on the bed with the sport on tv, Zach watching something and me messing about on Facebook!
Eventually, we decided that it was probably time for Oscar to wake up, so we went downstairs and he did just that!
While Oscar was busy eating his lunch, Zach and I jumped in the car and drive down to Pets At Home to stock up on bits for the rabbit. And when we got home, the other half cleaned him out. Then the boys decided they wanted to go out in the garden and they had a play on the slide and a good run around.
Then it got a bit chilly and I took them back inside! The other half cooked dinner and we all ate before it was time to get them ready for bed.
Sunday was obviously my lay in day because it was Mother’s Day. Zach got the other half up at 6am but Oscar stayed snoozing with me a little while longer. When he woke up, I took him downstairs and then took myself back up to bed after Zach had given me the card he made at school.
Sometimes I don’t know whether I’ll actually get back to sleep or not but I was so tired from the early morning on Saturday that I was straight back into dreamland. I woke up a little while later (about 9.30) to hear lots of rustling downstairs – which was them making breakfast for me (I knew they were going to be doing it!). Shortly afterwards, they came bundling upstairs with a wonderful cooked breakfast, a mug of tea, and my proper card. I was a very happy mumma!
Zach also had a mini breakfast of beans and bacon on toast and so he and I sat upstairs and ate together. Then the other half brought Oscar up and made himself some breakfast!
After a while, we headed back downstairs and got ourselves ready. I hadn’t been feeling inclined to really go anywhere particularly special. I was still pretty tired and just couldn’t really be bothered. So I chose instead to head up to the other park so that Oscar could have a nap and we could spend some time with Zach, playing frisbee and football. So off we went.
Oscar fell asleep before we reached the park so we headed straight on into the animal enclosure section and saw that they have introduced their newest addition – a little possum!
Once we were done in there, it was raining a bit, so we ducked round to the cafe and I had a hot chocolate and way too many biccies, whilst Zach had a babyccino which he always enjoys!
It was super rushed because Zach wanted to go back outside, so we wandered round with him on his bike, and stopped at the field for some frisbee throwing. Again, this was rushed as he got bored, and so we carried on and then stopped at another section for a bit more frisbee and a kick about.
Again, this was quickly over and we decided that since Zach was too tired to really appreciate what we were doing, we headed home.
They had some lunch (I was still full from my cafe treat!) and then when Oscar woke up, he had some too. We then spent the rest of the afternoon indoors, with a mixture of homework, playtime and general moaning from the tired one! We did have some great Lego time whilst the other half played/relaxed with Oscar (although he did join us after a while!).
We had a dinner of BBQ chicken fajitas and then it was time for the boys to go to bed. They had a little play together on the chalkboard and then it was sleep time.
I then watched the Dancing on Ice final whilst doing some blogging and popping up to settle Oscar several times! And then, we went to bed!
It was a nice simple weekend but I enjoyed it as I always do (even with the moaning!).
