Our weekend happy – shopping, afternoon tea and a wedding fayre!

It feels like this weekend was a lot about me! In fact, there was so much me time, it was blooming lovely!

On Saturday I was due to meet my Sister up town for a shopping/afternoon tea trip. A couple of weeks ago, I was contacted by Debenhams to see if I wanted to shop with them for Mother’s Day, and have a treat of afternoon tea. Since I have already written about it, I won’t bore on about the details here but if you fancy an extra read then you can do so here.

In short though (in case you don’t go and read the post!), I had a wonderful time with my Sister. Not only did we have the afternoon tea and do some shopping, we also had a little look at wedding dresses and had a ruddy good giggle together. We haven’t been out just the two of us for so long, it was nice to have some quality time together!

Of course, as per usual, Zach didn’t want me to go and he tried to stop me leaving, but I managed to get out the door leaving him screaming after me (he was fine after seconds of me being gone!).

While we were out, the other half had his mum and dad round which the boys loved. They went on a lovely walk and I think they had some fun in the garden as well.

His parents were gone by the time I got home and it was soon time for dinner and bed for the boys! We sat together and watched The Voice before it was bedtime for us too!

On Sunday, we had plans to go to a wedding fayre at a local venue. My mum was coming over to look after the boys for a few hours and she arrived just after 11. We had gotten the boys all ready to go out as she was taking them up to the park for a babyccino in the cafe and a wander round the animal enclosures. We thought it would be the easiest way to keep everyone happy but it didn’t quite work out that way and Zach still managed to have a screaming session because he didn’t want me to leave – but I was looking forward to some more me time (well, us time I guess) and there was no stopping me!

We managed to hop in the car and as per usual, within moments of us driving away, he was absolutely fine and he had a wonderful time with nanny. It’s the first time she has looked after the two of them by herself and it was a huge success – she will definitely be hired again!

While they were busy at the park (and later at home!), we were just a few minutes up the road looking round lots of wedding exhibitors, the venue itself (which I didn’t love as much as I thought I would – quite handy considering its expense), and watching a fashion show of dresses and suits.

We had a wonderful time. It was the first fayre we have been too. The first real wedding-ey thing that we have done since we got engaged in January. We don’t have a venue yet and we don’t have a date yet, but talking to lots of experts who gave us lots of sound advice was really helpful so early on in our planning. It’s given us a lot to think about and it’s all getting very exciting! We also managed to have a sneaky glass of champers of course – although I was gutted that I forgot about the tea and scones in the wedding bus outside!

Once we were done at the fayre, we headed home and the boys were very pleased to see us! They had a play, the other half cleaned the rabbit out and I started dinner for us all, and then he finished up because Oscar was being a whingey pants and wanted me!

We then ate (including my mum), Oscar moaned the whole way through and refused his dinner, and then just after my mum left, he went into full on meltdown mode. I found myself at 6.05pm, putting him to bed! Way earlier than his usual bedtime and we still have no idea why he suddenly got so tired but apparently he just wanted to go to bed!

He was asleep by the time it was ready for Zach to go to bed so then I got to bedtime for him as well – something I hardly ever get to do.

Once they were both asleep, our usual Sunday evening happened and we then headed up to bed – pretty exhausted but happy after a nice weekend!

Don’t forget, if you have a post or vlog about your weekend fun, make sure you come and link up to #ourweekendhappy – it opens at 6am on Wednesdays 🙂

Sounds an amazing weekend – and a bedtime without any negotiations is always a bonus too!

Haha yes it is! Although I could have done without the meltdown beforehand!

oh wow, all that time without the kids – bet it was bliss hehe! I know we all love our kids but isn’t it nice to have a bit of time to relax…and not have to share the cakes 😉 #ourweekendhappy

God yes – they are always around my legs when I have cake! It was lush – it’s the most I have spent away from them since Oscar was born haha!
