Our weekend happy…wrestling, soft play, a bubble bath and lunch guests!

Well boy did we have a jam packed weekend! We still didn’t manage to have a whole weekend of tranquillity – there was yet again one day that was full of meltdowns, but there were so many fab moments and a lot of happy laughter.

In recent weeks, you may have noticed that the other half and I usually try and give each other a lay in each on one morning. This didn’t happen this weekend. With the terrible sleep that we have been getting because of Oscar’s cold/teething, we are both exhausted and the thought of not having the other one there for back up for the entire day was not worth that extra hour in bed!

So, Saturday morning the boys woke up at similar times and Zach came and joined us in bed. We actually managed to stay there for quite a while, although we were being clambered over the whole time so it wasn’t exactly relaxing, but we couldn’t complain at still being in bed! We all then trundled downstairs and did the usual routine of toilet, tea and breakfast! We had no plans for the day, so had a bit of a discussion and decided that it was a good day for soft play.

We got ourselves ready and then the boys had a very impromptu wrestling session with daddy, whereby he did several throws onto the bed. Boy did they love it.

Then it was time to head to soft play.

As always, we have to work these things around Oscar’s nap and so the plan was that the other half would walk up there, whilst Zach and I drove, stopping off at M&S to get next door’s new baby a little pressie and me some new underwear. I of course ended up buying Oscar a pair of leggings and Zach a pair Spiderman sunglasses too! We then drove round to the soft play centre and the other half had beaten us – although Oscar still needed to be asleep so he carried on walking around for a while whilst Zach and I went in and had some mum and son fun together!

It was absolutely rammed in there, so many parties and so many noisy children but after a while, the other half and Oscar joined us and we all had a really lovely afternoon. We had some lunch, the boys did some epic playing and I, as standard, had a yummy hot chocolate!

Once they were both absolutely worn out, we decided it was time to head home so jumped in the car and went straight there, in time to cook a yummy lasagne, give the boys a bath and get them to bed!

On Sunday we were due to have my sister, brother in law and nephew round for lunch. We were all up early again, although the other half did get up with Zach about half an before Oscar and I did, and we came downstairs to find them doing some Hama Beads that we had promised to Zach the previous day!

I found myself looking at the clock at 8.30 and realising that it was still so early that I totally had time to have a bath. I have not had a bath for ages. There is never, ever time. A quick shower every day keeps me smelling fresh but I can’t remember the last time I had a soak. And so, I filled myself a bath up with gorgeous smelling bubbles, got myself a magazine and relaxed for about 40 minutes. I even had to add more hot water as it had gone a bit cool! I didn’t get disturbed once and it was amazing! It is one of my goals for the year ticked off (but hopefully there will be more occasions throughout the rest of the year!).

Once we were all ready, the plan was for me to take Oscar out for his nap, pop to the shops to grab the lunch stuff that we needed, drop it home and then carry on walking so he could have a good sleep. Unfortunately, Oscar had other ideas and had an absolute meltdown, refused to go to sleep, screamed for the whole 15 minutes that I walked him round the block, and so I took him home and had to lay him on the bed and pop him on the boob to get him to sleep! It was utterly frustrating but he is teething so I will allow him!

My sister and co turned up whilst I was upstairs with him, but he went to sleep fairly easily and when I got downstairs, the other half popped out to the shops to get the bits that I was supposed to have gotten!

The rest of the afternoon was spent catching up, eating lunch, cake and drinking tea whilst Zach and my nephew played and wound each other up! There is a ten year age gap between them and they always end up arguing over something! We then all had a little competition on Oscar’s little basketball game (yes really, it got quite competitive!), and then they headed home as my nephew had an afternoon bbq to go to with his girlfriend and her family!

After they went home, the other half laid on the sofa to watch a bit of the rugby and the boys had a play in the playpen at Zach’s request whilst I sorted the washing out!

Shortly after, the other half went to clean the rabbit out and then Oscar decided he wanted to go out too. I popped out there with him but it was absolutely freezing and so took him back inside…bad move. Cue mahoosive meltdown number two. He got himself into such a state, screamed for about half an hour or so and I ended up having to put him on the boob for the third time (he woke briefly during his nap so I had to feed him back to sleep!). For someone who no longer technically feeds in the day, it was a day full of boob milk!

Anyway, it did the job, he calmed down (and tried to fall asleep!) enough for us to get through a roast dinner and then it was pretty much straight to bed for the pair of them.

Like I said, despite the mammoth tantrums on Sunday, we really did have a lovely weekend.

Don’t forget that if you have written or vlogged about your weekend, you can join myself and Mrs H at the Our Weekend Happy linky which runs from 6am on Wednesday until 23.55 on Sunday. We would love to see you there šŸ™‚Ā

Sounds like an amazing weekend. Sorry you missed out on your lie in though! My husband and I used to do that – give each other a lie in. It just gives you that extra chance to feel human. #ourweekendhappy

It definitely does – our weekends are pretty busy at the moment so not much chance to lay in sadly. They will be back though hehe!

Sounds like a family time filled weekend! A day in soft play is great for wearing them out isn’t it? L and his Dad are prone to a daily wrestling match, I’m always worried they’ll hurt themselves but they never do šŸ™‚ #ourweekendhappy
