Our weekend happy – a sunny walk, afternoon tea, fun at the park and a birthday party!

This weekend was a really blooming lovely one. Not only did the boys have fun, but I had some very lovely me time as well 🙂

On Saturday the other half got up with Zach, and then as soon as I was up with Oscar, he went back to bed because he had a cracking headache and felt a bit rubbish. He went back to sleep for a couple of hours and then once I was fully run ragged by the boys, I sent Zach up there to wake him up!

Once everyone had finished breakfast and was showered and ready, we headed for a gorgeous walk over the country park. Of course, it was to get Oscar to sleep, only that seems to be getting harder and harder and I am finding that he is switching his nap time completely – this meant he was awake for ages and we were out for longer! It didn’t matter too much, the weather was stunning and a nice long walk is something we all enjoy (Zach pretends not to but he does!).

Oscar fell asleep eventually and so we then headed home – the other half popping to Tesco for a few bits whilst I took the boys back to the warm!

Once the other half was back, I went out. That sounds really simple doesn’t it? I can assure you it wasn’t!

Zach screamed. He hates me going anywhere without him and he screamed – despite me having chats with him about the fact that I would be back for bedtime and that I would send him a photo when I got there. The screaming woke up a sleeping Oscar and so he ended up having a far shorter nap than we wanted and needed, and I ended up leaving the house feeling really blooming angry – it’s not like I actually go out often and when I do, all hell breaks loose.

I quickly drove away and then parked round the corner to pop the Satnav on and call the other half to make sure Oscar was ok. All was fine and so I headed off on my journey to a friend’s house. She was celebrating her birthday with afternoon tea and I was so blooming excited because you all know how much I love cake!

It was an all female affair with no children and it was heaven. So much chat, a lot of laughter, a cheeky glass of Prosecco, and a lot of cake!

Whilst I was there, the other half took the boys to the slide park (as Zach calls it) and had some fun in the garden too.

I left in time to get home for bedtime, stressed a bit when I got stuck in a couple of bits of traffic and had to divert round to get home quicker, but I made it home before Oscar was screaming for boob! Once they were fast asleep, we ordered a Chinese and sat in front of the tv watching The Voice. Which was really lovely because usually on a Saturday night, I am working and he is playing computer games!

On Sunday, we were all up fairly earlyish (ok, the other half was up at 6am and I followed suit with Oscar at about 7.15), they had a bit of playtime and we all got ourselves ready as always!

We went off up to the other park for Oscar’s nap, which yet again was later than it should have been and once again, we ended up with everything happening later throughout the day.

Zach had a birthday party to go to at 4pm, so we had planned to have an early dinner. Only it ended up being later and we were shoving his Spiderman costume on (it was fancy dress!), and running out the door. Well, Zach and I were. We decided that we wouldn’t take Oscar because he was still sitting eating and I couldn’t bare for him to throw up all of his food if he got car sick.

So off Zach and I went and he had a great time. And I had another good natter with some of the mums that I know.

The party ended at 6pm and we headed home. Oscar was pleased to see us bless him (although he had lots of fun having some one to one time with daddy) – he always clings to me when he realises I’ve been gone!

We popped them both to bed shortly after our return and then had our usual Sunday night of laptop and computer!

It really was a lovely weekend – now it’s the end of half term and back to normality resumes!

What a busy weekend! How lovely to have some time catching up with your friends without the children. Even if it was a bit stressful leaving the house

Yeah it was lovely. It’s so different when you haven’t got to keep your attention split in between adults and children!
