Mummascribbles meets…LadyBug Home & Designs

This week we meet the lovely Christina from LadyBug Home & Designs. Thanks so much for taking part Christina.

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family
My name is Christina Smith Gibson and I was born in Oregon, USA.  Almost 12 years old, I married my English husband and moved to England for love.  The little loves in my life are my daughter (3 years old) and baby boy (born December 2014).  My parents, twin sister and brother lives in Oregon.  I get sent exciting boxes from my parents filled with my favourite foods and daring clothing for my children. I have loving in-laws that live in Cambridgeshire.

What do you like doing to be you, when you are not parenting, working (if you do), or blogging?
I am currently on maternity leave from my small business called LadyBug Home & Designs (retailing ribbon, buttons and hair accessories).  My current relaxing activity is cross stitching and making decorations for holidays (Spring/Easter etc).  I have completed 2 cross stitch projects in the last month and am starting a new Spring/Easter pattern.  I hope to start designing cross stitch patterns in the next couple months for retailing.

What is your biggest achievement to date?
I would have to say my daughter and son.  Every baby is a miracle but they were both “my miracles”.  There were some tears and heartbreak before they arrived in our lives but I am the most proud to be their mother.

From your own experiences, what do you find the hardest part of parenting and what is the easiest/most rewarding part?
The hardest part of parenting for me is finding a balance between being a good mother and trying to continue to grow mentally as person.  I am very grateful that I get to stay home these days and spend time with them but I do miss meeting new people and have professional goals.

The most rewarding part of being a mother is watching them learn new skills and explore the world.  My children bring pure joy to my life everyday and I love to have new adventures with them.

Parenting in itself is no mean feat; how do you juggle everything you need to in order to get everything done on a daily basis?
I don’t ever feel that my house is clean enough or that I get everything done but I am doing my best.  My house may be messy but it is filled with fun and love.

Why did you decide to start blogging?
I started blogging in the Spring of 2014 so I could record some of the craft projects I was doing and daily life for myself, but also to share experiences with my mother.  I enjoy reading other people’s blogs and thought it was a good way to express myself.

Tell me a bit about your blog?
My blog is currently evolving but I hope it will mainly focus on motherhood, crafting, running a small business and home design.  I did take a break from it until recently but am working very hard currently to write different topic articles.

I just recently learned about link parties and recently ran a “Mothering Sunday Link Party”.

What do you want your blog to achieve and where do you hope to see it go as it grows?
I would like my blog to develop with time and hopefully be fairly financially successful.  I hope it will allow me to meet new people and have new experiences for my children.  I enjoy having a “project” and professional responsibilities but I want to have the flexibility as a stay-at-home mom.

What advice would you give someone who is thinking about starting a blog?
I’m definitely not an expert but I think you should just have fun with it.  I am currently putting a lot of pressure on myself to develop my blog as quick as possible but I think you need to take your time so you don’t lose interest.  I think writing about topics that you enjoy will provide good content.

If you could have dinner with three people (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
1 & 2. I would love to have dinner with my two grandfathers that have passed away so I could introduce them to my husband and children.

3. I would like to have dinner with Reese Witherspoon because she seems really nice and it would be fun to learn about what is like to be an actresses in Hollywood.

Tell me three random facts about you
1. I love green candy, especially lime.

2. My husband says I own more buttons and ribbon yardage than most craft stores.

3. I have a sewing machine but never used it yet.

You can find Christina at and also on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Bloglovin and at her Etsy store.

Great to get to know another parent blogger, and my partner (Zoe who also blogs with me) has a sewing machine that she has never used (coming up to 4 years now).

Thank you for commenting. Hopefully by the end of the year, I will have started using my sewing machine. I really need new cushion covers and should just do it. Have a good Easter weekend!

      • April 2, 2015 / 2:24 pm

I have a sewing machine too…got it about 3 years ago and finally went on a full day course at Christmas! I haven’t used it since though hehe! I must, must get it out!

Great post, nice to get to know Christina, she has some lovely points and a great reminder to write about what you love. And I also have a strange obsession with ribbons and buttons! #twinklytuesday

Seriously, if you need any buttons or ribbon contact me. I can’t believe how much I have sometimes. My Etsy shop will hopefully open in late June or July but following me on Facebook if you are looking for anything. Probably start posting items next month. Have a good 4 day weekend! Thank you for commenting.

I love ribbons, buttons and all things craft too! Can’t wait for your store to open Christina 🙂

Thanks for doing these Lisa – I enjoy hearing about everyone and how/why they do what they do. I read them and I can’t help thinking how would I answer! I think I would also say I enjoy having a project and professional responsibilities but I want to have the flexibility as a stay-at-home mum. Nicely summed up. Christina: do you mind if I borrow that one?! #TwinklyTuesdays Over from

Thank you for your kind words. Love your cookbook idea and can’t wait to do the “Bake for Heros” the end of the month. I donated and got the recipe last week. I will be really cheeky and say if you wanted to send me a copy of the book, I would totally blog about it. You have gotten some really good reviews already. My daughter and I love to bake/cook normally every Fridays. Hope you have a good Easter weekend. Looking forward to following you on twitter and Facebook.

Enjoyed reading your “Bucket List”. Have fun in Bude! Heading away this weekend so trying to get several blog postings done and everything scheduled. Great job with your blog stats. I started in mid-February but don’t think I will be close to your numbers for a little while. Take care!

I have a sewing machine! I never use it! I don’t know why I thought I’d be good at it since I was pants back at school. I will use it though, else my mum will be very unhappy that she bought it for me!

Ahh Caro’s blog is stunning isn’t it 🙂 I’m not keen on green sweets either ladies – especially green wine gums or fruit pastilles!

  7. April 1, 2015 / 9:57 pm

I love this, what a great idea to interview fellow bloggers!
I always wanted a sewing machine, but I fear it would end up never being used either – like the blender, the juicer and the bread maker!
