Every week I feature an interview with a blogger, so that whether you know of them or not, you can get to know them a little better! This week we meet the lovely Becca from mummydaddymia. Thanks so much for taking part Becca!
Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family
Hello! I’m Becca and I live in Nottingham with my partner Mario and our 4yr old daughter Mia. I’m also currently pregnant with our 2nd child so that’s very exciting! I settled in Nottingham with my parents when I was 11 years old after living in West Yorkshire and being born in Manchester and although I do miss the countryside at times, I love being in the city as well!
What do you like doing to be you, when you are not parenting, working (if you do), or blogging?
When I’m not busy being a parent or blogging (so not very often!) I love going on walks and sitting down with a good book! It’s nice to get some ‘me’ time even if it is small chunks of time grabbed every now and again!
What is your biggest achievement to date?
My biggest achievement to date is probably a bit cheesy but having our daughter Mia! She is such an amazing little girl and it’s such a massive thing to know that we have helped to shape and create her as the little person she is today!
In my career life, my biggest achievement is probably getting my BSc Psychology degree when I was younger as although I gave my job up to have Mia, it helped me to gain a job in a school and develop my love of teaching!
From your own experiences, what do you find the hardest part of parenting and what is the easiest/most rewarding part?
The hardest part of parenting for me is that I’m always doubting myself and thinking that I’m not doing things the way I should or how I should be doing them but that comes from my own low self-confidence! The most rewarding part is when we have been doing something fun and Mia thanks us for a lovely day. To know that she has enjoyed herself and got something from the day is the best feeling!
Parenting in itself is no mean feat; how do you juggle everything you need to in order to get everything done on a daily basis?
In order to get everything done both in the house and blogging wise, I tend to work only while Mia is at Preschool and in the holidays she knows that there are a couple of hours across the day that I need to work. We are lucky that Mia is really happy to go off and play by herself and is fairly sensible enough that I don’t have to check up on her every 5 minutes! Ever since she was born, I have been working at home so she has got used to it I suppose!
Why did you decide to start blogging?
I decided to start blogging after Mario encouraged me to keep a pregnancy diary when I was pregnant with Mia. Once I had done that and Mia was around 4 months old, he set up a website for me (he’s a website developer!) and it grew from there!
Tell me a bit about your blog?
Mummydaddymia is a parenting, lifestyle and fitness blog that has evolved over the last 3 years. I write about our experiences as first time parents and we also review a lot of gadgets, books and fitness products which I love doing!
What do you want your blog to achieve and where do you hope to see it go as it grows?
I really want to grow the blog to start making money from it although I will still write for me and only write about what I want to write about. I think is absolutely fine to want people to see what you do and also to earn a bit of money at the same time!
What advice would you give someone who is thinking about starting a blog?
If you are thinking about starting your own blog I would say to keep writing for you and in your style. Write as you speak and write honestly. Only work as hard as you want to as it can get a bit overwhelming as you learn more about what blogging entails!
If you could have dinner with three people (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
1. Pierce Brosnan as I have loved him since James Bond (who I have a slight obsession with!)
2. Quentin Tarantino as I think he is a very strange by clever man
3. Adele as I have a serious girl-crush on her!
Tell me three random facts about you
1. I’m obsessed with police documentary programmes on TV!
2. Everything in our house has its place and it’s quite stressful when something isn’t where it should be although I don’t think I have OCD!
3. I love Frankfurter sausages!
