Every week I feature an interview with a blogger, so that whether you know of them or not, you can get to know them a little better! This week we meet Marie from Tummy 2 Mummy. Thanks so much for taking part Marie 🙂
Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family.
Originally from Bournemouth, I’ve lived in quite a few places in the UK. I went off to drama school at 20 and enjoyed working as an actress, it was the ‘not working’ that I didn’t enjoy. I moved to Norwich with my partner Dave in 2014 so that he can talk in-between songs on the radio in East Anglia whilst I teach dance, singing and drama to early stages at Stagecoach Norwich. I live with Dave and our 9 month old baby girl Jasmine (we are big Disney fans) plus three Star Wars Shih Tzus – Obi, Leia and Vader.
What do you like doing to be you, when you are not parenting, working (if you do), or blogging?
I like watching trashy TV with a glass of wine and snacks. I really like sleeping but haven’t done much of that for the last 9 months. I also love travelling and going on nice holidays.
What is your biggest achievement to date?
Coping with extreme sickness in pregnancy, birthing a child and being a mum 24/7.
From your own experiences, what do you find the hardest part of parenting and what is the easiest/most rewarding part?
Nothing prepares you for sleep exhaustion – having a baby that wakes around 10 times a night is tough. I worked out the other day that I’ve been up for almost 3000 night feeds with Jasmine in 9 months. Although breastfeeding is great, it’s tough being the only one who can feed her.
The most rewarding is definitely hearing her laughing.
Parenting in itself is no mean feat; how do you juggle everything you need to in order to get everything done on a daily basis?
No honestly, Jasmine comes first so I work around her. I tend to write while she naps and clean when Dave takes her out in the afternoons.
Why did you decide to start blogging?
I wanted to start blogging as I feel I never had an honest account of motherhood before having her. I wanted to be really honest and talk about the hard times too.
Tell me a bit about your blog?
Honest motherhood from a first time mum who’s winging it!
What do you want your blog to achieve and where do you hope to see it go as it grows?
Eventually I’d love to make a good income from it and continue making good, truthful content.
What advice would you give someone who is thinking about starting a blog?
Just write. And stay true to yourself. That means saying no sometimes when you get offers to collaborate with products that don’t fit in with your audience. I want to be honest with my audience and that’s meant turning down offers before, but I hope my blog is stronger because of it.
If you could have dinner with three people (dead or alive), who would it be and why
1) Anna Kendrick – because I really think we’d be best friends…. I just know we’d click. In a non creepy way.
2) Paul McCartney – because he’s a Beatle….and amazing. Although I’d feel guilty about choosing the steak.
3) Jennifer Aniston – I want to meet all the friends cast – so far I’ve only met Matthew Perry – I’m pretty sure he hated me….so I’ll go to the top and say her. Although I couldn’t guarantee that after a few glasses of wine I wouldn’t whip out my ‘Team Jen’ t-shirt and tell her she deserved better than Brad…
Tell me three random facts about you
1) I can name every state in America in alphabetical order
2) I used to play the trumpet
3) I simply can’t tolerate people who get Disney land and Disney world mixed up.
