Having a Superhero party with Captain Fantastic

You probably know by now that we recently had a joint birthday party for the boys. If you don’t know, where have you been?!

Initially, I wasn’t even sure I was going to do a party. I wasn’t sure that I could be bothered to be honest, and seeing as it didn’t seem to be a done thing at school, I thought I could get away with it. Zach started mentioning a party though and since he has had some kind of celebration every year, I started considering what we could do. I had pretty much decided to do a little something at home, until the people from Captain Fantastic got in touch to see if I would like to work with them and use one of their entertainers for a party. And that was it. Suddenly I was looking at halls, inviting the whole class, and panicking that we would have enough children (the school mum’s weren’t exactly forthcoming with the RSVP’s).

Thankfully, we ended up with a bunch of children due to come and the party was all organised for a Saturday afternoon. And thankfully I hadn’t arranged it at home, because it was POURING down with rain the whole time and that would have been an absolute nightmare.

We were very kindly given a premium superhero party with Captain Fantastic. A 2 hour party that is aimed at 3-7 year olds (although Oscar was only turning 2 but I had no doubt he would love it). With promise of magic, games and a disco, as well as lots more, I was super excited to see how much fun the kids were going to have.

When we arrived down at the hall, our entertainer Louis was already sat in his car in the car park waiting for us. We had been told that he would arrive half an hour before the party to set up and that break down would take 20 minutes, so we hired the hall for 3 hours based on this. He had text me the day before the party to confirm location and timing details and so I was very pleased to see that he was prompt. Tick number one.

After a brief discussion about where was best for him to set up, he got on with it and was ready as the children started arriving. They were super happy to be arriving with some of their favourite music already playing. We waited a while until more children had turned up and then I gave him the go ahead to begin.

And begin he did.

From the get go, he was awesome. He had my boys up the front, other kids up the front. He had them all totally enthralled. There was screaming, more screaming, and even more screaming! At times it got super loud and that’s when you know you have a great entertainer on your hands.

The first hour was full of fun – the magic, the games and the silliness that got all the kids fired up. And then there really was fire, and the kids (and adults) were totally enthralled!

After the excitement had cooled down, the kids then had a twenty minute break for food and cake presentation, before the remainder of the entertainment continued, which was a 40 minute disco. Oh, my, god, the kids were a sweaty mess by the end of it. They all had an absolute ball and I had kids telling me it was the ‘best party ever’. And the other parents were pretty impressed too.

I will point out only one small negative and that’s when the kids did any kind of messing around, Louis was a bit strict. Now I totally get that it is hard to continue your entertainment act when one or two kids start messing about, but just on the odd occasion, it felt a bit teacher-ish and I was a bit worried about what the parents of those children would think.

But, aside from that very small negative (because it was only on a couple of occasions but I just needed to mention it), the whole party was absolutely amazing and my boys in particular, just had the best time.

I would have absolutely no doubts to book another Captain Fantastic party in the future. They do a huge range of different style parties, aimed at children between 1-11, there are extra options that you can book like face painting, and they even have a sister site that deals with adult parties. Each individual entertainer has been individually DBS/CRB checked and they carry their own Public Liability Insurance, for maximum peace of mind. It was such a smooth operation, from booking, to contact from the entertainer, and to them turning up on the day and doing their thing. If you are hosting a party any time in the future, I would definitely give them a call.

What a fab idea for a party! This sounds great and takes the pressure of entertaining the kids off you too! X

Haha why do kids get so sweaty at parties! The entertainer sounds fantastic and to be really good with the kids! Great party!

To be fair the hall we used is always super warm! But even if it wasn’t they would have been dripping from how much dancing they were doing. I literally had a queue for drinks at one point!

It’s so great to find a good entertainer. We have been to a lot of parties in my time and the quality can be really variable. Unfortunately my eldest is going through a phase where she is pretending she is too cool for that sort of thing, I find it funny because I can see her getting involved and having fun and then afterwards she will complain it’s babyish!

Oh that’s funny! We are definitely in the stage of parties being the best thing ever! I’ve been to some real cringe ones in my time too so I was very pleased this guy was great!
