Review: Write on, wipe off, alphabet cards

This is a slightly different review from me today, for the product isn’t yet on the shelves but is a kickstarter campaign. The fab news is that they are now fully funded. They have received enough backers to take this product to the next level. The better news is that if you still decided to pledge your backing, there’s no risk and you’ll get the game!

When I saw what this product was, I thought it looked fantastic and so I was more than happy to receive it to review on here and hopefully get people behind the campaign.

The product is the Write on, wipe off, Alphabet Cards by The Appealing Rabbit. I’ll leave it to the inventor’s bit of blurb about why he designed this to kick us off!

One night, about 6 months ago, my son was having a hard time writing letters. He lacked motivation and was only weeks from starting school. I decided to create a game that would motivate him. I created a race track formed as an S, and his purpose was to follow the line. He would then get one point if he got to the finish line and a penalty point if he didn’t. This was the start of The Appealing Rabbit, write on, wipe off Alphabet Card game.

About the product

It’s pretty simple really. There is one card per letter of the alphabet along with a score card and pen. Children are encouraged to follow the letter with their pen and thus, learn how to write their letters. You can keep it simple for the younger child by just allowing them to do this, or if you want to, you can make it into a competition where they receive points for every letter they have traced correctly. Like I say, simple! I loved the idea, but did I like the reality?

What we thought of the product
Ok, I’m going to go straight into it – it is AMAZING. I will confess, I haven’t yet sat down with Zach to do this but today, I sent them over to my mum’s with him and asked her if she would have a go. I truly did not expect much from him, I wasn’t even sure if he had the capacity to sit down and have a go – he’s a complete livewire and it takes a lot to get him to concentrate on an activity.

When she sent me this photo over, I couldn’t believe it and I was sure that he must have had help.

Then she sent me this, and I could see that he was having a go, was clearly enjoying it but I still wasn’t sure how much assistance he’d had!

When I picked him up, a bunch of the cards were all laid out on the table for me to see. I asked if he’d had any help and mum told me that other than telling him what he needed to do and how he needed to follow the letter shapes, he did all of the drawing on his own. I was AMAZED. Look what he did…

Now, he is only two years and seven months. We are yet to really focus on anything other than drawing and even that is still just squiggles. For him to do this is incredible and for this reason, I absolutely love this product. My mum loves it too. She couldn’t stop telling me how wonderful she thought it was and bearing in mind she used to be a playschool assistant, she knows what she’s talking about. She also mentioned how easy it is to wipe off the pen which also barely left any ink on the tissue. She told me to mention that bit specifically! Also, the artwork is absolutely beautiful. It is such a well designed product.

Is there anything we didn’t like?
No. Simples.

I can totally recommend this product. If you don’t go and back it, just keep your eyes out for it on a shop shelf near you. It is bound to be a surefire hit as it is in our house. We are going to use it all the blimmin time! Zach says look, it’s fab!

Thank you to Sven for sending us this wonderful product and congratulations on reaching your funding target. I truly hope this takes off as well as I think it should.

We were sent this product for the purpose of this review but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Oh wow that looks amazing, I always wonder whether the toddler would be interested but Zach is the perfect tester for us as the boys are the same age!
